How to install Visual Studio 2019

In this article, we will see How to install Visual Studio 2019 in the windows 10 operating system.

Microsoft Visual Studio is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) which is used to develop computer programs, websites, web applications, web services, mobile applications, etc. It supports around 36 different programming languages with a code editor having IntelliSense (code completion component). One of the most basic and popular editions of Visual Studio is Community Edition. Visual Studio includes a debugger that works both as a source-level debugger and as a machine-level debugger. Debugger allows setting the breakpoints and watches to monitor the value of the variables as the execution progresses.

Visit https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/ in order to download Visual Studio as per your system architecture as well as requirement.
Choose Visual Studio Edition which you want to install in your machine. I will recommend you to download Community Edition, which is best for Students or Individual Developers.
On selecting the edition, an executable setup of Visual Studio is downloaded. Click on the .exe file in order to start the installation process. On the first screen, you can see the privacy and license terms, click on continue.
In the next step, it will download the files required to proceed with the installation.
Once all files are downloaded, a screen as shown in the below image will appear. Select the workload as per your development requirement. You can also select the Individual components; language packs, etc., and then click on Install. On the right-hand side, it will show the total space required for the installation.
Selected workloads, components will start downloading. Select the start after installation checkbox option in case if you want to start the Visual Studio after the installation.
Once installation is done, search for the Visual Studio (in my case it's Visual Studio 2019) in the Start Button. Click on it in order to launch the application.
You are now ready to develop cool applications. Create a new project or open an existing project or solution.
I hope this article will help you in installing Visual Studio.
Thanks.

C# Interactive in Visual Studio

In this Article, we will learn How to use C# Interactive in Visual Studio. The C# Interactive window is now a part of Visual Studio from Visual Studio 2015 update 1 release. In this Article, I am using Visual Studio 2017 for demonstration purpose. C# Interactive is REPL Editor, i.e. Read-Evaluate-Print-Loop with advanced editor. With C# Interactive window, we can test our code snippet without compiling or running the complete code.
Let’s Begin:
Open C# Interactive window in Visual Studio:
We can open C# Interactive window in multiple ways:
1) From Menu Bar: Go to View Menu then move the cursor to Other Windows and then click on C# Interactive.
2) From context box: Right click on the .cs file and then click on Execute in Interactive (shortcut is Ctrl+E, Ctrl+E).
3) From Visual Studio command prompt: Open Visual Studio Developer command prompt.
Then type csi and then press enter. C# Interactive mode will be available in the command prompt.
Options available in C# Interactive Window:
C# Interactive window has 4 options in the window that is as below:
1) Reset: Reset will reset all the DLLs, methods, etc. loaded in the C# Interactive window.
2) Clear: Clear will clear the screen of the C# Interactive Window.
3) History Previous: For checking the previous step/command executed in the C# Interactive Window.
4) History Next: For checking the Next step/command executed (If exists, means earlier, we used History Previous option) in the C# Interactive Window.
Execute Code in C# Interactive Window:
We can execute C# code in the interactive window easily. In below example, I have declared a string variable and displayed the output in the C# Interactive Window. C# Interactive window supports C#6 and C#7 as well.
Intelligence feature is also available in the Interactive window, which makes it easy to use.
We can execute any code block in the Interactive Window. For this, we have to just select the method which we want to test/access in the C# Interactive Window. Check the below example, I have created a Calculator class which has Add, Subtract, Multiply and Divide method.
Now select the method or function you want to test in the C# Interactive window and right click and select Execute in Interactive.
Test the method by passing the parameter value in the method.
We can also load the DLL in REPL with the help of #r command. #r command followed by the path of the DLL to load in the C# Interactive Window.
C# Interactive Window also supports error handling in both compile time as well as runtime. Check the below screenshot:
Hope this will help you. Thanks.
